A Virtual 6-Week Cohort
Imaginal Pattern Studies is run as a closed cohort — a small group of participants who commit to a six-week structured program. Over the course of six weeks, you complete five designed exercises and learn a framework for reading your own material. You leave with a body of self-generated evidence and the tools to continue working with it independently.
The observational lenses are introduced in week four, once you have enough material for your patterns to start repeating. By weeks five and six, you are reading your own output in real time and comparing it to your earlier exercises to see what keeps showing up regardless of the scenario.
This is a commitment. The method is cumulative. Each exercise depends on the ones before it, and the reading framework depends on having a body of material to work with. Partial participation does not produce the intended result.
You leave with your own collected outputs, the full set of observational lenses, a collective report, follow up exercises and the ability to continue using both on your own with any material your mind produces, including the daydreams, fantasies, and recurring scenarios you were already having before you got here.
What a cohort involves
It is a six-week structured program for 8–12 participants. Here is what happens each week:
Weeks 1–3
A live introduction session opens the cohort where you learn the process. Then, you receive one designed exercise per week via email. Each exercise gives you a scenario, a set of conditions, and a time constraint. You write your response and submit it to me within a defined window. During these weeks, you are not trying to analyze or interpret anything. You are building a body of raw material.
Week 4
A live group session where I introduce the reading lenses: a set of specific observation tools for reading your own output. I demonstrate these using an anonymized example from a previous cohort. You then apply the lenses to your own material from weeks 1–3 and write what you notice.
Weeks 5–6
Two more designed exercises. This time, you submit the material to me and then apply the reading lenses to your own output after writing. You also compare these later exercises to your earlier ones. This is where patterns become self-evident not because I point them out, but because repetition across multiple exercises makes them visible.
After Week 6
A 3–6 page report is delivered via email within two weeks of the final exercise on what surfaced across the entire cohort, including additional themes the group worked through, the first moves that repeated across multiple submissions, and what the group as a whole avoided. This is not a summary of individual work, it is a reading of the field the group formed together.
Alongside the report, you receive two or three follow-up exercises calibrated to the material the cohort did not enter, the territory the group went near but did not cross and other themes related to overall group report. These exercises give you tools for working with what was implied but not surfaced during the formal six weeks.
An optional written reflection survey is also included for participant feedback.
Live Sessions
There are two group sessions held via video call:
Session 1 — Week 1 (Opening): I explain the method, what the exercises are designed to do, what they are not, and what your commitment looks like. This sets the container. The first exercise is issued immediately after.
Session 2 — Week 4 (Reading Lenses): I teach the observational lenses using anonymized cohort material. You practice applying the lenses to your own outputs during and after the session.
What You Leave With
Your own collected outputs—five written pieces produced under conditions designed to reveal how you operate beneath your conscious surface.
The Imaginal Pattern Studies Observational Lenses for reading your own material, and the ability to continue using both the exercises and the lenses on your own, with any imaginal material—including daydreams, recurring fantasies, and scenarios your mind produces without prompting.
A collective 3–6 page report that speaks to the repeated themes and field the group formed together.
Two - three follow-up exercises calibrated to the material the group touched but did not fully surface during the formal six weeks.
For cohorts that include it, a printed Participant Workbook based on the cohorts theme that introduces frames-specific lenses.
This is not a six-week experience that ends when the cohort ends. It is a set of tools and a body of self-generated evidence that continues to reveal things over time.
What This Is Not
This is not therapy, and I am not a therapist. The exercises are designed to surface material that usually stays beneath awareness, and that process can be uncomfortable. If you are currently in treatment for acute mental health issues, please consult your provider before participating. This is also not a creative writing workshop. The quality of your prose is irrelevant. What matters is what you do with the scenario, not how well you write it.
Privacy and Confidentiality
Your submissions are seen only by me. I may use anonymized material, with all identifying details removed, in future cohorts and in ongoing development of the methodology. All material shared in the current cohort will be from past participants and no one in the current group. You will have the opportunity to opt out of this use in the participant agreement. All participants agree to keep anything shared during live sessions confidential.
Commitment
This is a six-week commitment. The method is cumulative. Each exercise builds on the previous ones, and the reading framework introduced in week 4 depends on having three outputs to work with. Partial participation does not produce the intended result.
The cohort is limited to 8–12 participants. The fee is for the full six weeks, which includes all five exercises, both live sessions, the observational lenses to keep and use beyond the cohort, and the closing collective read with follow-up exercises after Week 6.
A full refund is available if you withdraw before the first exercise is issued. After that point, no refunds.
Cost
Cohort fees vary. Each cohort is built from designed exercises, individual reading of every submission to surface cohort-wide patterns, and a closing report written specifically for that cohort's field. The fee reflects the work involved in producing this work for a small group. The specific fee for any upcoming cohort is listed on that cohort's page and confirmed in the payment link sent to you upon approval into the cohort.
The fee covers the full six weeks: all five designed exercises, both live sessions, the Observational Lenses Booklet to keep and use beyond the cohort, the closing collective report, the follow-up exercises issued after Week 6, and — for cohorts that include it — a printed Participant Workbook.
One to two scholarships are available per cohort. If you would like to be considered, note your interest in the Cohort Interest form or email info@imaginalpatternstudies.com.
Upcoming Cohorts

You're invited, at any time, to express interest in being part of a cohort. To do so, complete the Interest form and details around the topic and cost for the next available cohort will be sent to you via email when they are available.
About This Work
Imaginal Pattern Studies is a developing methodology. You are not signing up for a finished product. You are participating in the early stage of something that does not yet exist elsewhere—a structured, self-directed method for using designed exercises to surface and recognize your own patterns. Your participation, your outputs, and your feedback will directly shape how this work develops.
